Harbingers of Spring

One sunny morning, Baloo and I were greeted by a cheery (or should that be cheeri-o?) song and were happy to see this bright fellow heralding the coming of Spring.

Maybe we should name him Harold....of Springtime. (Only my brother will get that little musical reference, but I had to include it.) At that point in time, there were open areas of ground where he could find a few thawing bugs and nibble on fallen fruit from a neighbor's crab apple tree.

The robins have retreated again, now that the snow has blown back into town, but it was delightful to see a sign that warmer days are on the way.

Later on during our walk, we enjoyed watching some seagulls out on the ice, slipping around like the geese had been doing in yesterday's post. They would fly in for a slippery landing, frequently causing their neighbors to take to the air. The fact that they are also back in the area means that there is open water nearby - another sign of springtime.

Can you tell I'm ready?
