Prickly Personality

Piper and I encountered a porcupine while out on the trail. It was shimmying down a tree not far off the path.

Little Miss Piper was very curious about this new and exciting creature.

Happily, she was on a leash and didn't have an unfortunate meet and greet.

There was, however, a lot of sniffing and observing (and a lot of me telling her to "leave it").

Yikes!

I love porkies !! I hate when I see them killed by cars along the road, makes me sad :^( I'm glad you kept Piper under control - it's a rude awakening when a dog gets a mouthful. Thanks for the pics, so cool !

Hugs to ya, from BetsyLee

I must admit that, while they're interesting creatures, porcupines aren't my favorites. Aside from the concern about unfortunate dog encounters (Baloo had a really bad one), they're really hard on the hemlock trees. They girdle and kill a lot of them. They're always fascinating to watch, though. And the feet! What amazing padded tootsies!
